In ContentManager 0.9.3.0, trying to create a new project.

  1. Click "Create project" button at top of window
  2. Enter "Project Name" = "TestGame1"
  3. Note that in "Target Devices" list, "Windows" is checked
  4. Click "Create Project"
  5. Error window: "Project Settings | Please select at least one target device!"
  6. Expand the "Windows" entry in the "Target Devices" tree
  7. Note that the only option here that is not greyed out is "Windows OpenGL" . . . and it is not selected
  8. Click the checkbox next to "Windows OpenGL"
  9. Click "Create Project"
  10. Same error window: "Project Settings | Please select at least one target device!"

Note that this was downloaded just a couple days ago, using the "Download Installer" link for 0.9.3. Haven't tried installing mercurial to download the latest nightly build, I can do that if nobody can repro the problem though.

Thanks,

For what it's worth, I tried downloading the latest source from codeplex using Mercurial, but hit the same problem using the Delta.Tools.ContentManager.exe from that checkout. It still displayed its version as 0.9.3.0, so I'm assuming it's the same one as the one I installed via the 0.9.3 installer?

Thanks for reporting this. Several other users have also reported this today, but I do not have a real clue why this is happening now on the client because that code has not been changed for months and this seems not fixable on the server without a client update. This has probably to do with the new target device logic of the content plugins, but that code is not live yet, it must be a change in the database causing this strange issue ..

This is fixed now. I changed the order of the devices so the first one is always Windows and thus always selected. In newer ContentManager versions this does not matter anymore because the first device (Windows) does not need to be selected anymore because the ContentManager itself does not use Windows content anymore.

I can confirm that this is working for me - thanks!

One minor issue though... After creating the project, two message-boxes appear: one letting me know that the project was created successfully, the other asking if I want to save changes. After clicking "Ok" in the first message-box, I then clicked "Yes" in the Save Changes window; it complained that I can't add a project with the same name as one I already created.

After that the project did appear in the Content Projects pane though, so all appears good. So it's really a very minor issue, I just thought I'd mention it.

Thanks again,

--- Mark ---

Thanks for the bug report. Yes, there are some side effects due the old vs new content server logic. Those are client side issues, which have not been updated yet. A new ContentManager tool is coming in the next nightly release, which does not have this problem anymore.
