Hi Benjamin,

after downloding the nightly release yesterday, I opened the solution with VS2010, this time I had not reference errors like with DE0.9.0, compile and build also ran without any problems. Now I open the samples browser and select, for example, Start Executable on the Blocks or Breakout game. What happens that I get some notepad windows open with a 'Block.txt' displayed. Something like this:

Program: Blocks v0.9.1.1

Note: All templates assume the environment variable DeltaEnginePath is setup (which will be done automatically if you start any Delta Engine tool or service). If it does not work for you, set up the environment variable yourself to avoid having to map assemblies yourself, e.g. DeltaEnginePath=c:\code\DeltaEngine (you can do that by navigating to Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Advanced system settings -> Environment Variables ... -> New User Variable, see the screenshot below). Again: You don't have to do this normally, the Delta Engine will take of this automatically the first time you start any tool, game or program with the AllowDevelopmentAssemblyUpdating feature turned on (which is on in developer mode by default, but off for built applications for the end user).

Maybe your path is too long and contains spaces, but we have tested those issues in v0.9.1. Are you really sure the files are at the correct location? You could also setup the DeltaPath environment variable or make sure the OptionalAssemblyPath in Settings.xml is setup correctly. You don't need to do this, you can also just copy the required files in your \bin\debug folder yourself and then you never need any other paths.

About WP7: You will need a Marketplace account, which we only give out on a case-by-case basis right now if it makes sense for us.

Hi,
thanks for the help.

I found out the reason why I got this error texts: Although the DLLs are physical available in each of the example folders, all of them were blocked by Windows --> File properties, don't know why. I unblocked them and seems be looking fine, but I now get this message only, maybe this the content thing behind the firewall!?

These locked DLLs is are a real problem, dunno if there is a way to programmatically turn them off. Will investigate or at least write up some tips.

About connecting to the content server: It should work at Content.DeltaEngine.net:800 (all the other ports are not available yet until the v0.9.1 content server is started). You could also try to edit your Settings.xml file and set "DeltaEngine.net:800" there, but my guess is that you are behind a firewall that blocks outgoing TCP port 800.

I think the most generic solution would be to create an Application Domain for loading these Assemblies. You'll run into the issue again when someone tries to install them on network drives and then load them, for example.

Well, when launching in the SampleBrowser all samples and tests are already loaded into an extra app domain, but that does not solve the problem.

When running a game or test from Visual Studio AppDomains won't help because you need the assemblies in your domain.

I found a post that explains the issue and gives several ways of fixing it. (http://superuser.com/questions/38476/this-file-came-from-another-computer-how-can-i-unblock-all-the-files-in-a)

Option 1: Before unzipping, unlock the zip file itself (file->properties, at the bottom).
Option 2: Move offending files to non-NTFS volume (e.g. USB drive) and back.

Thanks for the tips, added them to the download page! I have not found an automated solution yet (probably a simple installer would do, but I have not build one yet). If more people are having trouble I will add an installer, just ask!

First I have downloaded the newest nightly release. I unblocked all the files. But now I'm getting this crazy logged in to many times error when I try to download content for the first time. I'm not logged on to any tools.

BTW: I build an installer today for v0.9.2 (will be uploaded Friday) and simplified the download page a lot.

What kind of problems do you have with the latest nightly release? Just a bunch of log warnings? Can you post a log here? Anyway, thanks for the report, will obviously be tested before the release :)

But the problem is it was saying that I was logged in more then 3 times. I had no tools open and I even tried logging off of the forums lol. Of course it just worked for me even though I haven't changed anything from earlier. I suspect possibly I'm not getting logged out correctly when closing the tools?

Thanks, that helps. A little strange is that you are getting both times the error you would get after aborting the login dialog (plus that it tells you that you are already logged in 3 times). I had something similar yesterday with a WPF dialog bug (could not get out of login window), maybe it is not fixed yet (could not reproduce it since).

Some help for people who get this error.
I take it on new Win8.
Code:
00.025 Warning: System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly 'file:///C:\code\DeltaEngine\Samples\Blocks\bin\Debug\Delta.ContentSystem.dll' or one of its dependencies. Operation is not supported. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131515)
File name: 'file:///C:\code\DeltaEngine\Samples\Blocks\bin\Debug\Delta.ContentSystem.dll' ---> System.NotSupportedException: An attempt was made to load an assembly from a network location which would have caused the assembly to be sandboxed in previous versions of the .NET Framework. This release of the .NET Framework does not enable CAS policy by default, so this load may be dangerous. If this load is not intended to sandbox the assembly, please enable the loadFromRemoteSources switch. See http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=155569 for more information.

This should not happen if you install the Delta Engine or just unlock downloaded files or just use Mecurial (e.g. TortoiseHG) to get your files. But I will test it again for v0.9.4, some things are fixed now, but more testing still has to be done for all the tools.
